Hi had a look at truck , as much as I can in the dark , I'm guessing it may be the solenoid sin starter ?? Any one had any experience of these playing up or going wrong ?

What test have you carried out to prove that the battery is fully charged?
Fully charge the battery with a battery charger to eliminate that as a cause & check that the battery terminals are in good condition.
If you have the type that hold the cable into the terminal with 2 screws then dismantle, clean the cable & reassemble. Corrosion on those is an issue I have from time to time with the boat.
Check connections at the starter motor.

Connect a jump lead directly from the battery earth terminal to a good clean earth on the block & see what happens.

"turn key and a click but nothing" means the solenoid works, but the starter doesn´t turn. Possible reasons:
- Battery problem. The battery may show a good tension, but be unable to provide enough current. Did you try jump starting with another car?
- Corrosion on any terminal involoved. Check earth cables also.
- Starter motor -> new / refurbished starter
- Solenoid contacts. There seems to be a repair kit for the solenoid on the market.
Good luck!

Link please.
Or was it the judicious application of Land Rover Tool No1?

Hi will try and get a link up but if you go on you tube type in td5 starter motor removal , then click on video " how to get amother year out of broken td5 starter should see video
Basically you can remove the small cover over the solenoid , 3 8 mm headed bolts , while starter is still on vehicle , then remove the plunger and file or sandpaper the copper ring and the inner insulating material only needs a fraction off just enough for it to drop further and make contact to fire motor ,takes about fifteen mins not mended but can get you out of a fix while you wait for parts to arrive , cheers
