Stepper Motor - alternative source

Postby CaptainChaos » Mon 13 Jun 2016 4:29 pm

My old stepper motor was playing up, so I replaced it with a shiny gold coloured one for £40. This didn't last long (the casting snapped), but it was replaced under warranty with another equally shiny one. This lasted a bit longer but also snapped. This does nothing for your idle, but does improve your left foot braking skills in traffic jams.

A fair bit of googling led me to an AC Delco item on Amazon US of A. AC Delco is the parts division of General Motors, and these stepper motors feature on quite a number of their 80s and 90s models. What you need is a 217-437 Fuel Injection Idle Air Control Valve Kit. It comes with the sealing washer and is identical as far as I can see to my old original item which are listed at £180 or so from the usual suspects. It cost me about £55 including delivery from here:

Hope that's a help to someone. Photos below comparing it to my old one.
