If it's a 2.8 Isuzu, then it's an excellent engine conversion.
Very similar in design to a TDi, but more powerful and economical.
Also a tougher engine in my opinion, and I've driven with one in a Rangie to Capetown and back.
Not too difficult a conversion DIY - Conversion & Precision do a kit, and they pop up on ebay from time to time pretty cheap.
Use the engine from a Frontera (same engine but bigger turbo, different injectors and intercooled), put a TDi rad/TD5 intercooler mounted centrally in a standard TDi frame, tweak the fueling, 300 TDi exhaust, and it's an easy 125bhp+ and tons of torque and 30mpg.
