Is the Jeep Wranger going to replace the Defender?

Nene seems to think so. They are promoting Jeeps on their home page with the slogan "One Jeep - Live it"

The problem is that a monocoque with lots of gizmos is always going to be a bit of a hairdressers car. Or am I mistaken?

By the way, I meant that whatever the Defender replacement is it will be a monocoque with lots of gizmos (hairdresser's car). I did not mean that this applies to the Jeep Wrangler which still has a ladder frame chassis of course.

There was an article in a motoring magazine this month (Autocar?) where the front page had a picture of the potential Defender replacement. It looked just like a slightly boxier Evoque...

This is another possible variation on teh front end - the rest looks pretty much the same:

That's something like it. Not much Defender in that front end. :(

I think the second one is the more likely production probability. Just for the aero to get emissions down (Aero on a Defender - who'd have thought it!)

Pity as I think I prefer the first one (actually the first one is very recognisably a Defender in so many ways)

A Defender replacement will need a chassis. That is unlikely to happen so what we can expect is a Defender substitute.
...and then there was one. Image
