A tip that might get the forum busy again

Postby chrissyboy » Tue 10 Oct 2017 12:30 pm

When I first started using the forum, if I posted on a thread, I would be notified by email of other replies to the thread.

I guess that feature has been done away with because some found it annoying. I think it might be a good idea to bring it back.

Cheers Chris

I’m pretty certain that feature is still there. At least I thought it was.

Will do a test now.

All the forums that I am a member of have gotten really quiet especially this summer. I think the increased use of such as Facebook are to blame. I much prefer a forum because I find it easier to find threads etc. Then again, maybe it's me thats the problem....... :( :(

Same here.
Since the rise of facebook & twitter the general chit chat has gone to them.
I'm on facebook, but only because my sons & their partners use it & as that's how their generation communicate if you're not on it then you don't know what's going on.
The only way to put the general forum back to what was here a few years ago would be for facebook & twitter to be uninvented.

It might help if LRO promoted the forum in the magazine. If they do, it's not obvious. The letters section of the magazine promotes facebook and twitter but not the forum.

And perhaps more involvement by the LRO writers would encourage readers to join.

Do we care about the management? The forum is ours to make what we want of it isn't it?

The management have control of a lot of aspects of the forum that we can't change.
Software updates, forum add-ons, forum software itself etc.

That's not content though is it? Ever heard the expression "content is king"?
