Test it by simply shining a torch into the light sensor, from the way mine works its actually not that quick to auto dim (when comparing to my audi) , however, it can be made to dim with a torch no prob

Hi,

Just as an add on, to the subject..........Has anyone replaced the normal mirror, with the auto dim, as my XS only has the standard type mirror?

Maybe not the answer you want, but my mirror is permanently dimmed since I ripped it off. It's only use is for looking at the face of the driver behind, and it's often not pretty. If it is a pretty face in the car behind it's just a distraction. Door mirrors are all you need.

Well Ciderdrinker,
I only want one because of those [half shaft] that don't seem to know what the dip switch is for! and my trustie Rangie ( which is for sale ) had the said dimmer mirror, which was a God send, at times.

Hi Phil R
why don't you go for color glass on a previous thread that seems to be a good option
