3 Amigos PLUS brake warning light - all at once!

Postby Hugo » Mon 02 Aug 2010 6:11 pm

Just happened.

Hill decent, ABS and Traction control amber lights plus the red brake warning light. All with 3 bongs.

I was braking gently at the time

Now, I know the front discs need changing, and possibly the pads as well.

Could excessive brake wear have caused this?

I would quite like to get rid of these to see if they reappear when I brake. Other than connecting it up to a nanocom is there any way I can?

There are no members with a nanocom near me.

Thanks

sounds like you need a new wheel bearing around £200 to buy and when it is fitted you will need to get the lights reset

I wouldn't be so hasty to jump to expensive conclusions.

My approach would be to do what I know needs doing then try to reset the lights to see if they come back.

I know it needs a couple of discs. Do I have the time at the moment? NO

must admit that i get my 3 amigoes from time to time it comes up as o/f front abs sensor wheel bearing is ok and have changed the sensor it can come back after a day or 6 months just carry my nanocom and rest if needed so i would try reset before spending money but the later discoverys need more of a problem than the early ones to keep the lights on and should reset them buy them self so many times

This is why I'm a little confused that the brake warning light came on at exactly the same time as the 3 amigos.

The MOTs due in September and I was going to put it through the second half of August. I suspect it would have passed before but not now

It's quite possible the brake warning light is a coincidental happening. Try pushing the h/brake lever down with a thump. This light came on on mine last year and it was literally the h/brake lever not going all the way home when released.

The 3 Amigos can pop up if the brakes squeal. Don't know why.
