Disco 2 Passenger door lock problem!

Postby munkysdisco » Tue 11 Mar 2008 11:50 am

Guys, I'm hoping someone can help stop me getting an earbashing from my better half everytime we enter the truck. My situation is that when I press the remote button to open the doors (once for drivers door, twice for all the other doors) the passenger door sometimes doesn't unlock, but sometimes it does!! I've watched the button on the door come up as I've unlocked the car and if the door unlocks, it pops up agonisingly slowly!!

I saw in a previous thread that this might be down to a spring inside the mechanism which might need replacing, just wondered if anyone could confirm this and if anyone knows the part no. (hint hint UP!!!)

The spring issue only relates to the disco 1. The disco 2 uses a diffferent combined lock/solanoid mechanism. unfortunatly other than lubrication they dont appear easily servicable. i would just replace the lock/solanoid mechanism, my boot lock as the same problem but i overcome it by pressing the fob a 3rd or 4th time

Seems to be a recurring problem with some our doors... just like the leaking sunroofs! I have recently changed the fob battery as I'm sure somebody on here said that door locks not operating properly was down to a weak fob signal.... changed but still a sticky rear offside passenger door and boot door :-(

Already done my rear door lock Ricky, there's not a lot you can do with them. Don't bother trying breakers for them, they want £40 second hand and you'll be back in the same boat shortly after. New from a stealers is only just over £50 for the entire lock assembly.
